Thanksgiving Day
I know this post is a bit early, but Thanksgiving has been on my mind this year in a big way. This has been a year with many highs and lows for me, and I’ve had to face some personal truths. It hasn’t been easy, and I’d like to think I’ve grown a lot. I’ve learned what it means to really belong to a community, to let go of control, and to take chances. I’ve tapped into a side of myself that I haven’t experienced in many years, and I’m loving every moment of it.
As I look ahead to Thanksgiving, there are so many things I am grateful for. First and foremost, my husband. At each series of crossroads when we’ve had difficult decisions to make, he has been there every step of the way. We’ve decided to do some challenging things, and he’s never wavered in his support and commitment. I’m also grateful for my parents, who have just been a tremendous help as we’ve transitioned to our new life. I have also been reminded recently that good health is a special gift, and I’m grateful that not only do I live it, but my family is all healthy as well. My home, my community, my friends, and, of course, Knitting Companion.
If you asked me a year ago if I would be starting a company dedicated to the craft of knitting, I probably would have laughed. And yet, I wake up every day focused and excited to take the next step with this community. You have all been wonderfully supportive, and I’m deeply grateful for each of you. You encourage me to step out onto the skinny branches, stretching myself and taking myself to new levels daily. Thank you.
